Using AFS-8400

How and where it is used

A floor spring is a hydraulic door closer set into the floor under a frameless glass door. It carries the full weight of the door on a spindle, swings it both ways, and brings it back to the centre at a controlled speed. Because it is hidden in the floor, the glass door stays completely clean-looking.

How it is installed

A pocket is cut in the floor and the floor spring box is set level with the finished floor, then grouted in.
The bottom patch fitting (APF-01) is clamped to the glass and sits on the floor spring spindle.
A top patch (APF-02) with a top pivot (AFS-GDP) holds the door at the head, so the door turns on one vertical axis.
Closing speed is adjusted with the valves on the unit; the door can be held open at 90° on models with hold-open.

Choosing tips

Choose by door weight and width first, then by how busy the door is. A higher cycle rating lasts longer in heavy traffic.
AFS-9400 suits heavy entrance doors up to 120 kg; AFS-6600 is enough for light internal doors up to 80 kg.
If the floor cannot be cut (finished marble, rented space), use the AHFP-105 hydraulic bottom patch instead.
